On July 15, 2024, the India Post GDS Recruitment 2024 job announcement was published, revealing more than 44,000 openings around India. Positions for Branch Postmasters (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmasters (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks at various Branch Post Offices (BOs) in various Department of Posts offices will be covered by the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment for 2024–2025. In India, the majority of job seekers target positions with the Post Office under the Central Government. The IndiaPost GDS Online Portal, indiapostgdsonline.gov.in, is the only place where Indian individuals may apply online for Post Office GDS openings. August 5, 2024 is the deadline for registering online applications.

Branch Postmaster (BPM): Conducts day-to-day postal operations for India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Branch Post Office (B.O.) in accordance with any guidelines that may be periodically issued by the Department.
Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) include selling stamps and stationery, transporting and delivering mail to doorsteps, exchanging mail with account offices, and handling deposits, payments, and other IPPB activities.
Dak Sevak: Dak Sevaks work at departmental offices, such as Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices.
Age Limit:
Minimum 18 years and Maximum 40 Years as on closing date. The maximum age shall be relaxable by 03 years for OBC and 05 years for SC / ST Category Candidates. For PWD (PH) Candidates – Age Relaxation up to 10 years.

Educational Qualifications:
(1) Minimum Secondary School Examination pass / 10th Class (Matriculation) Pass in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) from any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/ State Governments/ Union Territories in India.
(2) The applicant should have studied the local language i.e. (Name of Local language) at least up to Secondary standard [as compulsory or elective subjects].
(3) Other Qualifications: Knowledge of computer, Knowledge of cycling and Adequate means of livelihood.
Other Eligibility:
- Compulsory knowledge of Local Language: The candidate should have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard [as compulsory or elective subjects].
- Knowledge of Cycling: Knowledge of Cycling is a pre-requisite condition for all GDS posts.
- Adequate alternate means of Livelihood.
Merit List:
- The Selection will be made as per the automatic generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidates online submitted applications.
- The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained / conversion of Grades / Points to Marks in 10th Standard / Secondary School Examination of approved Boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals. Passing of all the subjects as per the respective approved board norms is mandatory.
- Applicants having both marks and grades in the marks sheet have to apply with marks only. In case any applicant applies with grades instead of marks, his/her application will be liable for disqualification.
- No weight-age will be given for higher educational qualification.
- The Merit would be decided on the basis of following priority order:- “DOB (Older in age), ST trans-woman, ST female, SC trans-woman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS trans-woman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, ST trans-male, ST Male, SC trans-male, SC Male, OBC trans-male, OBC male, EWS trans-male, EWS male, UR trans-male, UR male.
Application Fee:
- ₹ 100/- for General and OBC category candidates. The fee is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in the chosen Division.
- The fee can be made through online only at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
- No fee for all female candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwD candidates and Transwomen candidates.
How To Apply:
Eligible candidates who desires to apply online will have to register himself / herself in India Post GDS Online Portal (indiapostgdsonline.gov.in) with all basic details to obtain the Registration Number.
Only one Registration is allowed for one candidate in a calendar Year 2024-25.
The candidates are required to fill basic details (Mobile Number, Email, Date of Birth, Community etc.) and upload relevant documents.
The last date for registration of online applications is 05/08/2024 (Monday) up to Midnight.
